Technical writer, copywriter or journalist needed to join busy PR and Communications team in Manchester City Centre, close to Victoria Station.

Writing is your passion. You’re creative, full of ideas and can turn dry content into exciting, headline-generating copy. Whether it’s a short legal comment or a full-length thought leadership article, you deliver. On time, to brief, and with outstanding results.

Of course, you know copywriting and journalism principles and you know how to use them. You perform thorough research and can adapt tone of voice to fit each publication and/or spokesperson.

You have a natural ability to manage multiple briefs across different media in a fast-paced business, while consistently delivering quality work. You work well as part of a team, but also deliver when trusted to get on with things.

Above all, you know what gets people talking, so you can see beyond the headlines and help drive the story forward.

Prior experience in HR and employment law is a bonus, but not essential.

Day-to-day responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Director of PR and Comms, you’ll be writing content for the PR and Communications Team, either generating your own ideas and original content or by analysing legal decisions and turning technical subjects into headline-making news articles. You will:

* Write copy for press releases, articles for trade, regional, national, and international publications, thought pieces and blogs.
* Prepare thorough briefing notes for Director media interviews.
* Follow the Group’s tone of voice recommendations and manage constructive feedback from senior colleagues and stakeholders.
* Be meticulous and create work to a high standard.
* Write comments that stand out and establish our spokespeople as the go-to experts for media.
* Use technical content and expertise from within the Group as well as conducting your own research.
* Monitor news outlets and social media sites to ensure we remain on top of all the stories, look for opportunities to contribute expertise and improve the performance of your writing and content.
* Ensure all copy is delivered to brief, to deadline, and to the required quality standards.

Essential attributes

* At least two-years professional copywriting or journalistic experience.
* Experience sourcing and creating news content.
* Creativity, enthusiasm, curiosity, and a desire to excel.
* Strong organisation and time management skills.
* Impeccable teamwork
