The Role of Technical Health & Safety Writer

My client is offering a compelling opportunity for a Technical Health and Safety Writer. You will deliver health and safety guidance, support, recommendations, and solutions to our clients as part of our comprehensive health and safety service. Additionally, through thorough technical research, you will translate jargon into easily understandable terms while supporting the development of policies, programs, and training materials in line with legislative and best practice requirements. The position requires Monday to Friday availability with standard hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., although flexibility is necessary to accommodate fluctuating business demands. Successful candidates can anticipate substantial prospects for career advancement. This full-time role is based onsite at our downtown Toronto office near Union Station.

Day-to-Day Duties and Responsibilities

As a Technical Health & Safety Writer, your duties will include:

* Maintain technical documentation and programs to ensure they are relevant, concise, and in compliance with legislation and standards across all Canadian jurisdictions.
* Create content for publishing in company health and safety materials
* Conduct project work with a view to project management and the attainment of timelines and KPIs.
* Maintain and improve databases and technical tools in support of department operational effectiveness.
* Be meticulous while creating work output to a high standard.
* Write copy that stands out in a market saturated with similar messages.
* Use technical content and expertise from within the Group as well as perform deep research.
* Collaborating with OHS team in the completion of departmental objectives and priorities.
* Excellent command of the English language with a strong writing ability
* A high level of computer literacy, PCs, Sharepoint, Ipads, Salesforce, etc
* Demonstrable understanding of copywriting best practices.
* A track record of developing content from conception to delivery to impact.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* A high degree of inquisitiveness and independence in conducting research
* An eye for detail and ability to work a brand narrative.
* Able to work in a multi-faceted, multi-client, high paced work environment
* An ability to work independently, as well as a team player
* Very strong time management and organizational skills

Must Have

* A degree or diploma from an accredited college or university

* Experience in conducting thorough research.

Nice to Have

* Knowledge of the occupational health and safety systems and legislation throughout Canada.
* Ideally have 1-3 plus years of relevant work experience in health and safety.
